Nosework / Scent Work

Nosework / Scent Work Kits & Supplies For Sale – Click here!

AKC Scent Work is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. Real-life detection dogs are trained to search for a variety of things–drugs, explosives, human remains, currency, other contraband, living humans (such as for Search and Rescue), and much more. AKC Scent Work takes this amazing working relationship and turns it into a fun game that any dog can play. (From AKC Scent Work:

Sound interesting?  Join us for classes!  See the bottom of this page for the current schedule, and click on the class in the registration block for a description of each class.  There is also an NACSW style class taught on Monday evening by Patrice (more information here:

Nosework Level 1 (Beginner): $125 for a 4 week session plus an odor kit.  Odor kit includes four AKC odors – anise, birch, clove, cypress – q-tips, glass jars, and metal tins for practice at home.

Nosework Level 2+ (Returning Student): $100 for a 4 week session.  Must have previously taken beginner nosework from us or contact us for approval.  Nosework kit available if you don’t already have one.

Drop-In Nosework: Price is per individual session. Must already be on at least one odor.  Multiple odors will be used in search areas but it’s okay if your dog hasn’t been exposed to all of them.

Regular classes are an hour long unless otherwise noted and limited to 8 dog/handler teams.  Drop-In varies.

Pre-registration is required for all classes, including drop-in sessions!

Please note: while dogs will work individually in the search areas with their handler during class, there will be other dogs in the building.  If your dog is reactive and you have concerns, please contact us before registering.

We recommend handlers bring/use crates so they can watch and learn from other dogs/handlers and their own dogs can have a break.  We do have loaner crates available on site as well.
