Nosework / Scent Work Kits & Supplies For Sale – Click here!
AKC Scent Work is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. Real-life detection dogs are trained to search for a variety of things–drugs, explosives, human remains, currency, other contraband, living humans (such as for Search and Rescue), and much more. AKC Scent Work takes this amazing working relationship and turns it into a fun game that any dog can play. (From AKC Scent Work: https://www.akc.org/sports/akc-scent-work/getting-started/)

Sound interesting? Join us for classes! See the bottom of this page for the current schedule, and click on the class in the registration block for a description of each class.
Nosework Level 1 (Beginner): $150 for a 4 week session and a starter odor kit. Odor kit includes four AKC odors – anise, birch, clove, cypress – q-tips, glass jars, and metal tins for practice at home.
Nosework Level 2+ (Returning Student): $125 for a 4 week session. Must have previously taken beginner nosework from us or contact the instructor for approval. Nosework kit available for purchase if you don’t already have one.
Drop-In Nosework: Price is per individual session. Must already be on at least one odor. Multiple odors will be used in search areas but it’s okay if your dog hasn’t been exposed to all of them.
Regular classes are an hour long unless otherwise noted and limited to 6 dog/handler teams. Drop-In varies.
Sniff-N-Go: Practice for upcoming trials, not a lesson. Typically, one practice run per ticket purchased. See the individual listing on the calendar for more information including on what levels/elements will be offered.
Pre-registration is required for all classes, including drop-in sessions!
Please note: while dogs will work individually in the search areas with their handler during class, there will be other dogs in the building. If your dog is reactive and you have concerns, please contact us before registering.
We recommend handlers bring/use crates so they can watch and learn from other dogs/handlers and their own dogs can have a break. We do have loaner crates available on site as well.
Classes are taught by guest instructor: John Fisher, Owner of Dog Sports America! Please contact him directly with questions.
Cell: 650-444-7800, Email: John@DogSportsAmerica.com (Phone is the best way to reach him.)
*Please note that John lives in Nevada and teaches when he’s out in Colorado. Breaks are taken when he is home or there are off-site events. If you don’t see something on the schedule that works for you or there are no classes listed at all, feel free to reach out to him to see when he is available!**
